Xi'an Tiangong Electric (TGE), established in 2002, specializes in the development and manufacture of high-performance metal oxide varistors (MOVs) for surge protection applications. TGE supplies MOV solutions for distribution, station, line, GIS and DC surge arresters, covering applications from medium-voltage distribution networks to ultra-high-voltage power systems.
TGE's MOV portfolio covers diameters from 30 mm to 136 mm. More than 200 million MOV blocks have been deployed in power systems worldwide, including MOV solutions used in China's ultra-high-voltage AC and DC projects. The company has developed more than 100 MOV product types and holds more than 30 patented technologies focused on material formulation, glass coating, DC MOV technology and manufacturing processes.
In 2024, TGE inaugurated a 70,000 m² manufacturing facility integrating MOV production, surge arrester manufacturing, R&D and testing. The MOV production system includes custom-designed tunnel furnaces and highly automated process control, supporting a monthly production capacity of approximately 450 tons.
TGE combines in-house R&D, manufacturing, testing and application support to help surge arrester manufacturers and power equipment customers improve product consistency, long-term stability and technical compatibility.
