Selecting TGE-MOA-B Series to IEEE C62.11

TGE-MOA-B Series distribution surge arresters are structured for applications specified to IEEE C62.11. Selection should begin with the system duty-cycle voltage and maximum continuous operating voltage (MCOV), followed by verification of discharge voltage, charge capability, short-circuit performance and the mechanical/environmental requirements of the installation.

The series uses TGE's in-house MOV technology, glass-fiber reinforced winding core and directly molded HTV silicone-rubber housing. These elements are controlled as one integrated design so that MOV characteristics, mechanical structure and external insulation remain consistent with the tested arrester configuration.

Selection Checklist for IEEE Projects

· Confirm system voltage and grounding conditions, then determine the required duty-cycle voltage and MCOV.

· Verify normalized discharge voltage at the applicable lightning impulse current and confirm coordination with the protected equipment insulation level.

· Check repetitive charge transfer and thermal charge capability for the expected surge duty.

· Confirm short-circuit withstand, mechanical load and external insulation requirements for the installation.

Select compatible disconnector, insulating bracket, wildlife protection and mounting hardware where required.

Production Quality Control

Each finished arrester is subject to routine electrical verification before shipment. TGE's source catalogue also describes production-batch checks for bonding and mechanical performance, together with dimensional, visual and material verification. This layered approach is intended to reduce variation between the type-tested design and ongoing series production.

Main structural/technical advantages of TGE-MOA-B Series IEEE

TGE-MOA-B series power distribution arrester products are made of epoxy glass wire winding, engineering plastic injection molding and other core structures, which can meet different needs of users. It has strong impact discharge ability In and charge transfer ability Qt. The winding core is made of glass fiber prepreg epoxy resin with high insulation/mechanical strength. The layered mesh winding core has extremely strong insulation strength, extremely high mechanical strength and up to 20kA short-circuit capability. Full encapsulation high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber outer insulation umbrella cover, with excellent hydrophobic performance. This technology provides perfect adhesion, thus preventing moisture penetration and improving reliability. The insulation material of the product meets the fire prevention requirements of EN45545-2:2020.
