Metal Oxide Varistors Used in Power & Energy Industry

TGE manufactures and supplies high-performance Zinc Oxide (ZnO) varistor discs and blocks, specifically engineered for surge protection in demanding Ultra-High Voltage (UHV) AC and DC applications. Our D30 to D115 series MOVs are critical components in surge arresters for systems rated up to 1000kV AC and ±1100kV DC, ensuring long-term stability and protection against transient overvoltages.

Metal-oxide varistors (MOVs) provided by metal oxide varistor manufacturer are a type of voltage-dependent resistor used in power and energy industry applications to limit overvoltages and protect circuits from high-voltage transients and surges. The zinc oxide varistor use zinc oxide grains in a ceramic material to provide a non-linear resistance that increases with voltage. They are designed to have a breakdown voltage that is lower than the normal operating voltage of the circuit, so that when the circuit voltage exceeds this threshold, the MOV diverts the excess current away from the circuit and safely dissipates it as heat. MOV blocks are used in a variety of power and energy industry applications, including surge protection in electrical wiring, circuit protection in power supplies, and lightning protection in overhead power lines.

TGE offers a wide range of ZnO varistor for surge protection in power and energy industry applications. These high-performance ZnO MOVs, including disc varistor and MO varistor, provide excellent protection against overvoltages and high-voltage transients. With their non-linear resistance characteristics, oxide varistor divert excess current away from circuits, ensuring safe operation and dissipating it as heat. Trust TGE for reliable, durable, and efficient varistors for surge protection in various power and energy applications, including electrical wiring, power supplies, and overhead power lines.
