TGE supports both standard MOV selection and application-specific MOV development. Customers can start with an existing MOV series or work with TGE's technical team to adjust the formulation, manufacturing process and electrical characteristics for a specific surge arrester design. For an initial technical review, customers can provide the target arrester voltage rating, MOV dimensions or dimensional limits, required protection level, charge or energy capability, and applicable IEC or IEEE requirements. TGE can then recommend an existing MOV solution or define a customized development route. Customization may include voltage gradient, energy and charge capability, dimensional characteristics, coating system and other application-specific performance requirements. Batch-specific process controls can also be defined when a project requires tighter consistency or special verification.
