October 16th marked the third and final day of the 2025 Arrester Technology Training and Standard Publicity Conference, which concluded successfully in Xi'an. The day’s sessions, featuring senior experts from China Southern Power Grid Science Research Institute, focused on practical lightning protection technologies, providing a professional knowledge platform for industry participants.
In the morning, Expert Qu Lu delivered a presentation themed "Distribution Network Lightning Protection Technology Standards and Arrester Standardization". He systematically explained the formation mechanism of lightning and its hazards to distribution networks, sorted out the standard system covering national standards, industrial standards and CSG enterprise standards, and detailed the specific work progress of distribution network arrester standardization improvement, laying a solid foundation for standardized lightning protection practices in distribution networks.
In the afternoon, Expert Liao Minchuan deeply analyzed "Lightning Damage Mechanism, Protection Technology and Standards for 110kV and Above Transmission Lines". He dissected the damage mechanism of lightning to power grids, elaborated on traditional protection measures and emerging technologies. With typical cases like 500kV transmission line three-phase tripping caused by lightning and multiple lightning strikes, he guided the formulation of differentiated lightning protection schemes and shared practical application experience.
During the closing summary, the organizing committee reviewed the three-day technical sharing, emphasizing the importance of balancing standardization and innovation in lightning protection technology. The conference has successfully built an efficient technical exchange and experience-sharing platform for the global arrester and power industry.
