The grand event in Paris in August has drawn to a close. The CIGRE 2026 Session and Exhibition was successfully held at the Paris Convention Centre, France.
Held every two years, CIGRE is one of the world’s most authoritative and influential professional platforms for power-system industries. It focuses on cutting-edge fields including power transmission and distribution, new-energy grid integration, and grid security protection, serving as a key hub for technological advancement, business matchmaking and industry trend analysis.

At 14:30-15:00 on 25 August 2026, during the technical conference of CIGRE Paris 2026, Ms. Liu Yuanyuan, Deputy General Manager of TGE, delivered a special technical presentation.
Topic: Research on the Manufacturing Process of Metal Oxide Varistors Applied to the Energy Dissipation Branch of HVDC Circuit Breakers
Her presentation focused on MOVs, the core material for the energy-dissipation branch of HVDC circuit breakers. It systematically introduced their operating characteristics under millisecond-level high-current surges, optimization strategies for manufacturing processes, and micro-mechanism analysis. The output provides valuable references for improving the energy-withstanding capability of varistors and their practical engineering deployment.
