As power utilities continue to modernize infrastructure and adopt smart grid technologies, distribution arresters are playing an increasingly critical role in strengthening grid resilience. By integrating advanced monitoring and control systems, these surge arresters can be embedded into the broader smart grid ecosystem, which give crucial feedback regarding system performance and health. This allows utilities to identify potential issues early, take proactive action, and optimize their power infrastructure.
Since TGE participates in the “High School Student Talent Program” initiated by China’s Ministry of Education, top high school students from across the country are bringing fresh energy to our company’s technological innovation. Siyong Gong, a student from Beijing No. 4 High School, proposed leveraging integrated monitoring capabilities of our distribution arresters to track real-time current and voltage on distribution lines. By introducing AI algorithms to analyze waveform features of voltage and current, this approach can enable early detection of abnormal conditions in distribution equipment, helping companies proactively address potential issues and improve power supply reliability. This concept is currently under development, and it is expected to be implemented in our company’s integrated distribution arrester products.
